Animals have always held an important place in my heart. Just like countless others I have memories of each pet that I had a child growing up. My first cat was a Siamese Himalayan who became my best friend. Even though I was horribly allergic to her at first this could not stop me from wanting to spend time with her. We were both shy and she was incredible timid around people but I think this is how we got along so well.

Different people choose specific animals that they can connect with. People and Their Pets documents the relationship between people and the animals they choose as their pets. Of course cats and dogs are more common but there are also several other animals we are able to take care of. Some of them are more independent than others but all of these images illustrate the connection we have will animals.

As a photographer I have explored many alternative processes, types of film and printing methods. This straight forward un-manipulated medium-format black and white body of work is just as beautiful to me. I love working with all different processes but Black and White portraits hold a certain quality that most often gets my attention.
